Introduction
Hailing from Gumla district, Asfaq had a very difficult childhood. Asfaq belongs to OBC category. After demise of his parents at a young age, all responsibilities fell on his tender shoulders. He had to survive and also feed his 4 younger brothers and 2 sisters. Somehow he managed to study upto intermediate level. Currently has his own house with a 2 wheeler, a TV, 1 cycle. From the earnings through his well run business, now he is able to lead a decent life.

Since his father had a small business to earn bread for the entire family, Asfaq learnt the basics of running business from his late father. Initially he started with his traditional business with very level of income.

Since Gumla is a small town for establishing business for any source of livelihood is not so easy. Asdfaq and his family members faced the harsh difficulties of life in the initial stages and had to struggle to survive.

Md Asfaq received loan amount of Rs. 50000 from Punjab National Bank under SJSRY/NULM through Nagar Parishad, Gumla. He started his much anticipated business right in front of the office with Cycle spare parts. Later on he was able to repair Motor Cycle also and started earning Rs. 300 per day through his sincere efforts.

After receiving loan from SEP programme under SJSRY/NULM, Md Asfaq gradually gained momentun in his life.

Now, he is able to support all his family members through his decent source of livelihood.

Through his sincere efforts, good inter-perrsonal skills, he is able to communicate effectively with his customers for increasing his bussiness Then in 2014-15, he finally got married all his brothers and sisters to respectable familes Currently, he is earning Rs. 10000 per month to financially support his family members.

It increased his standard of living by meeting all his basic requriements. The amount of loan received was enough for his survival.
Saira Khatoon

Introduction
Hailing from Azaad Basti, Ward No.6, Gumla District, Saira’s family was very poor. She was the third sibling out of seven. Her parents had no proper source of income. Saira Khatoon belongs to OBC category. Her father was a daily labourer earning very small amount of income. In fact, she also is a BPL cardholder.

In a family of seven members of getting 2 square meals a day was difficult. Hence in order to reduce the hunger her parents had to struggle for livelihood.

Since Gumla is a small town, establishing business for any source of livelihood is not so easy. Saira and her family members faced the harsh difficulties of life in the initial stages and had to struggle to earn their source of livelihood.

Saira received a loan amount of Rs.50000/- from SEP programme under SJSRY/NULM and renovated her older shop with fresh equipments. Gradually people started coming to her shop for cleaning, drying and pressing/ironing their clothes.

After receiving loan from SEP programm under SJSRY/NULM, Saira Khatoon, the beneficiary gradually gained momentun in his life. Currently, through her sincere efforts and hard work, she is able to earn Rs. 85000 – 90000/- per annum. Also she is able to take care of her younger siblings by looking after their education and allied courses.

It increased her standard of living by meeting all his basic requirements. The amount of loan received was enough for his survival live a decent standard life.

Saira was gradually able to communicate effectively with his customers for increasing her flourishing business. And also her income level started increasing day-by-day. Now, she is able to financially support her parents as well her siblings and contribute in all decision-making processes. Saira is now able to substantially contribute to her family's income and also can provide economic support in times of emergencies.

Infact, NULM transferred her difficult life into a very meaningful and prosperous state. She had full faith in her capabilities as she was to repay the bank loan timely with subsidized rate of interest. Even today she realizes that if she had not received any of loan from any source, she would have been living a pathetic life of downtrodden, destitute and needy. Indeed, she is very much grateful to members of Nagar Parishad, Gumla, through which she was able to receive much-needed loan amount through SJSRY/NULM from the bank. She along with her family members is now having their own pucca house and also own a two-wheeler.
