Seraikella Nagar Panchayat was established in 1889 by late Raja Udit Narayan Singh Deo But in 1989 it was constituted under Bengal Municipal Act of 1884.
Now, Seraikela is a Nagar Panchayat city in district of Saraikela Kharsawan, Jharkhand. The Seraikela city is divided into 10 wards for which elections are held every 5 years.
